Hebrew

Every participant in the Miller Program learns some basic Hebrew. You’ll learn to read Hebrew so that you can walk into any synagogue, seder table, or falafel joint in the world and feel at home. Whether you were a pro chanting haftarah at your Bar Mitzvah or you don’t know an Aleph from a Bet, we can help you polish and develop your skills.

Classroom Companion

We have developed a YouTube companion to our Hebrew textbook, “Aleph Isn’t Tough: An Introduction to Hebrew For Adults” by Linda Motzkin (URJ Press, 2000).

In addition to these resources, here are iPhone and iPad apps to help you learn the Aleph Bet: iWrite Hebrew, Aleph Bet Pile Up, Aleph Bet Bullseye, AlphaBet Hebrew, Aleph Bet - Learn the Hebrew Alphabet for Kids, Hebrew Land of Shenanigans, AlephBet App HD and Hebrew Tots.

If you are interested in becoming more familiar with the Hebrew prayers, visit Siddur Audio, which closely follows the Conservative Movement’s prayer book, Siddur Sim Shalom.

SPECIAL ALUMNI OFFER: If you are ready to continue your learning beyond the Miller Program, check out the Hebrew classes offered by the Whizen Continuing Education Program of American Jewish University—available to our alumni at an exclusive 50% discount!
